In the second half of this year, LTG Link, the passenger transport company of the LTG Group, will upgrade its ticketing system, website, and mobile app. By leveraging innovative solutions and collaborating with the Estonian technology company Turnit, the company aims to meet international standards and ensure even more convenient and straightforward train travel planning.
“We want to grow alongside our passengers—not only in Lithuania but also in the international market. That is why we are investing in technological solutions that will ensure a convenient and modern travel experience. We aim to make train travel seamless from ticket purchase to the final destination—both in Lithuania and beyond,” says Kristina Meidė, head of LTG Link.
Once the LTG Link ticket sales system has been updated, it will be possible to integrate it with the systems of railway operators in other countries, allowing passengers to plan and purchase tickets for international travel more conveniently. For example, currently, passengers who have purchased a train ticket to Poland often have to use carriers from other countries or separate ticketing platforms for the rest of their journey. The updated “LTG Link” system will make it easier to plan such trips across Europe using a single main channel—the “LTG Link” website or mobile app.
LTG Link will implement these changes in collaboration with Turnit, a leading Estonian technology company specializing in the sale and distribution of transportation tickets.
“LTG Link is the most progressive passenger rail carrier in the region, with a clear vision for what modern passenger rail should look like. Their commitment to seamless cross-border travel will benefit passengers far beyond Lithuania’s borders. We are proud to be part of this success story and to contribute to better-connected rail networks across Europe,” says Ülo Säre, CEO of Turnit.
The upgraded LTG Link ticketing system will enable collaboration with other local transportation providers, such as bus, ride-sharing, and car rental service providers. Passengers will also be offered additional services, such as reserving a spot in a parking lot.
As part of the ticket sales system update, the LTG Link website and mobile app will be modernized. The website will feature design and user experience improvements, while the mobile app will offer even more conveniences, such as logging in with biometric data or via social media accounts, as well as a device location tracking feature and payment options using Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The European community of railway and infrastructure companies has introduced an Open Sales and Distribution Model, which is recommended for adoption by all stakeholders in the railway sector. It is anticipated that the implementation of this model on an international scale will make it even easier for passengers to plan both domestic and international trips, while enabling carriers to reduce ticket sales costs and strengthen cooperation.
